This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is powered by a numbers-matching 427ci V8 paired with a four-speed Muncie manual transmission and finished in black over red. Additional features include a black soft top, side pipes, knock-off wheels, an AM/FM radio, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The car was first sold at Fort Sumter Chevrolet in Charleston, South Carolina, and a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment under previous ownership included a repaint in its original black, a rebuild of the factory engine, as well as exhaust, brake, and electrical work. The fiberglass body is finished in black and it was repainted at some point after 1999 under previous ownership. Exterior features include side pipes, chrome split bumpers, and a black soft top. Turbine-style 15? knock-off wheels are mounted with Firestone Supreme redline radial tires. The car is equipped with unassisted steering and brakes. The interior is trimmed in red vinyl and features bucket seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a factory-style Delco AM/FM radio mounted vertically in the center stack. Instrumentation includes gauges for amperage, temperature, and oil pressure as well as a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. The 427ci V8 is said to have been rebuilt by Jasper Engines under previous ownership. Casting numbers and an engine stamp matching the last six digits of the VIN match. The exhaust and electrical systems have been refurbished. Shifting is through a four-speed Muncie M21 manual transmission. The trim tag indicates that the car was assembled on December 28, 1965, and was originally finished in Tuxedo Black over red vinyl. A window sticker and an owner’s manual are included in the sale.
