Project 57 TR started with a 1957 Ferrari 250 TR we stumbled upon on a craigslist ad out of Virginia. With some research we acquired bits and pieces of information about the origins of the body itself. From what we can tell the body was constructed by a company in Arizona in the early 80’s. The company’s original intent was to build replica Ferrari body’s but was never able to achieve that goal on a large scale. A fire was responsible for the failure of the company due to the fact it destroyed all of the molds used to create the panels for the cars. From our research the body that we received was the only compete body to survive the fire intact. After getting the car back to our shop in Hickory, NC we determined the frame and drivetrain were of no use to the project and a custom frame would need to be constructed. We designed and build a double rail space frame out of 1 3 /4 tubing that would support the suspension and drivetrain out of a crashed 2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello we had acquired. The 550 Ferrari had a 5.5L dry sump engine coupled to a 6 speed trans axel. The engine was fitted with  12 independent throttle body's and a custom built set of stainless steel headers. With these modifications the engine now produced a healthy 550 horse power. The total weight of the car being 2600lbs make the horsepower to weight numbers very respectable opening the door for an incredible rate of acceleration. To keep the car true to original, the wheels, dash plate, gauges, exhaust and fog lights were all designed to resemble the real deal. That being said the only part that is not Ferrari or custom made is the windshield itself. With all the work this magnificent car’s handling and drivability is better than expected in all ways.
