1981 Porsche 911 Turbo GULF Livery colors 3.3-liter flat-six four-speed manual
This 1981 Porsche 911SC coupe was fitted with backdated bodywork under prior ownership as well as a 930 Turbo 3.3-liter flat-six that was rebuilt in 2016 with JE pistons, 964 camshafts, a K27 turbocharger, a Turbosmart electronic boost controller, and more as detailed below. Refinished in Gulf Blue, the car is equipped with a 930 four-speed manual transaxle, a Quaife limited-slip differential, 16″ Fuchs wheels, Brembo brakes, Bilstein shocks, and a sunroof. The interior has been reworked with an RS theme that includes black vinyl and houndstooth-pattern upholstery, GTS Classics front seats, and a RennShift shifter. The previous owner completed work including rebuilding the gearbox, repairing and repainting the front fenders, and adding Gulf-livery graphics and LED headlights as well as tuning the ignition and fuel-injection systems and replacing the tires, torsion bars, seat belts, and carpeting. The car was refinished in Gulf Blue circa 2012 and fitted with a ducktail spoiler and bumpers in fiberglass. A replacement steel hood, latch panel, front fenders, and 911S-style front bumper were subsequently fitted, while the rear window and sunroof seals were replaced in early 2019. In April 2021, Gulf-livery vinyl graphics were applied, and the front fenders were repaired and repainted to correct tire-rub issues. Rennline LED headlights were fitted at that time, and additional vehicle details include a sunroof, a left-side mirror, a Dansk 100-liter fuel tank, rubber T-handle decklid latches, and a polished exhaust outlet. Staggered-width 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels were mounted with 205/55 front and 225/50 rear Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires in May 2021, and the right-rear center cap is missing. Braking is provided by black-finished Brembo calipers fitted over 930 Turbo cross-drilled rotors, and braided stainless-steel lines have been installed. The torsion bars and rear spring plates were replaced in January 2023, and suspension modifications include Bilstein dampers, Elephant Racing bushings, and 930 Turbo tie rods along with a 20mm sway bar at each end. The RS-themed interior received GTS Classic fixed-back front seats upholstered in black vinyl with houndstooth inserts, and the rear seats were trimmed to match. Ballistic sound-damping material was added to the floor, and gray mats cover replacement black carpeting. Additional appointments include metal-pull door panels, power windows, a heater, a radio-delete plate, a vinyl dash cover, and a RennShift shifter topped by a 917-style wood knob. The heater control valves and sun visors were replaced in 2018 and under current ownership, front and rear orange-edged seat belts were installed in January 2023, and sound-deadening material was fitted in May 2023. The MOMO Prototipo steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a central tachometer with a 6,700-rpm redline as well as a 150-mph speedometer and gauges for oil level, oil temperature, oil pressure, and boost pressure. The fuel-level gauge was rebuilt in April 2021. The ignition system was rewired and repaired in April 2021, and the CIS fuel-injection system was tuned at that time. The most recent oil change was carried out in April 2024. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle that reportedly came from a 1976 930 Turbo and was modified with a Quaife torque-biased limited-slip differential. The gearbox was rebuilt in January 2023. Contact Kennith Stewart at 803-283-7289 for more information.
