1966 Corvette built as Rally Red/Black top 1967 3x2 carbs 496ci/609hp. P/S, P/B
1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible has a replacement 496ci stroker V8 equipped with three two-barrel carburetors as well as four-into-one exhaust headers with side-exit exhaust pipes and a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission with a dual-friction clutch assembly. Further details include a black-striped stinger hood, a black convertible top, and a push-button Delco AM/FM radio. The fiberglass body is finished in a fresh coat of Rally Red with a black convertible top, a black-striped stinger-style hood, flip-up headlamps, fender vents, side-exit exhaust pipes, quad taillights, and split chrome bumperettes. Turbine-style 15″ wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial redline tires. The chassis has been stripped and powder coated and the rubber bushings, brake lines, and brake hoses have been replaced. The car is equipped with power steering as well as Bilstein shocks, and braking is handled by power-assisted discs at all four corners. The has been updated using upholstery and components from Al Knoch Interiors of Canutillo, Texas, and is equipped with low-back bucket seats trimmed in black leather. Equipment includes a push-button Delco AM/FM radio, a clock, a cabin heater, a reverse lock-out shifter, and hand-crank side windows. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline accompanied by a 160-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The updated 454ci V8 machined to 0.060 and stroked for a total displacement of 496ci as part of a rebuild performed by Hampton Engines of New York in 2011 under previous ownership. The engine was fitted with a SCAT crankshaft, SRP pistons, Manley Performance connecting rods, and a COMP Cams hydraulic roller camshaft as part of the work. The three two-barrel carburetors are covered by a chrome air cleaner lid and valve covers. A June 2011 dynamometer test results indicated output of 609 horsepower and 563 lb-ft.
